Our History

Oakes Memorials and Signs is owned and operated by Tim and Kristy Wolfe. The business is proud to build on the service and quality established by the Oakes family for over 40 years and three generations. Today, they provide services to the region including areas in both Virginia and North Carolina.

Oakes began in the 1940's as Chatham Monuments owned by Gus Keck until 1966 when it was sold to Calvin Oakes. It remained Chatham Monuments until 1989 when Calvin's son, Gary, purchased the business. Gary changed the name to Oakes Memorials and Signs and moved into the current location on Franklin Turnpike.

In May of 2018, Tim and Kristy Wolfe purchased the business from Gary and continue to provide quality service with a friendly staff. They still serve the surrounding community from the Franklin Turnpike location.
